IT looked like a parent's worst nightmare, but the video of an eagle snatching a toddler is a fake created by animation students for what appears to be a hoax class.
Students at a Canadian animation school created the one-minute YouTube video of an eagle swopping on a child in a suburban park and snatching him up using CGI-style effects for a "production simulation class".
"The "Golden Eagle Snatches Kid” video, uploaded to YouTube on the evening of December 18, was made by Normand Archambault, Loïc Mireault and Félix Marquis-Poulin, students at Centre NAD, in the production simulation workshop class of the Bachelors degree in 3D Animation and Digital Design," Montreal animation school Centre NAD said in a statement posted on its website.

"Both the eagle and the kid were created in 3D animation and integrated in to the film afterwards,” Montreal animation school Centre NAD said.
"The production simulation workshop class, offered in fifth semester, aims to produce creative projects according to industry production and quality standards while developing team work skills. Hoaxes produced in this class have already garnered attention, amongst others a video of a penguin having escaped the Montreal Biodôme."
The video took the students over 400 hours to create and the trio set out to create the kind of footage that was guaranteed to go viral.
"We brainstormed some ideas of what is viral online," student Norman Archambault told Canada's CBC News. "Everything that is animal related and baby related are super popular so we tried to bring both together and make something extraordinary that wouldn't happen every day," Mr Archambault added.
The video is graded by the school based on how many views it receives and any which exceed 100,000 clicks get a perfect score. The eagle video has now been viewed over 5,170,677 times on YouTube.
