It is increasingly common to see almost exact copies, at least in design, of the flagship models of almost all manufacturers. While it is true that the vast majority of mobile devices stem from Asia, the origin of these imitations is largely attributed to China.
The main advantage of this kind of plagiarism is of course the price. And it goes without saying that the leading manufacturers usually put their best smartphones at a higher price point, a good example is the Galaxy S4, which costs about 700 euros. That, of course, includes the design, technology and specifications behind the device, and of course, the brand name.
For those that do not care much about the brand, Chinese devices that mimic and copy the design and even the technical specifications do seem like a good alternative. As always, however, it's good to be prudent. Chinese copies obviously bring some problems that we shouldn't overlook and that while we may be winning with the price point of the devices, we may be paying it ten fold in terms of the quality.
Problems with Chinese copies
For starters, it's believed that many of the chinese knockoffs do not incorporate an authentic Android OS, but a fully functioning 'disguised' Google system. As such, incompability with popular apps, such as Gmail and Whatsapp, is soon discovered when using them.
The cameras are much worse than the official devices and they seem to "distort" the amount of advertised megapixels with advertised . Furthermore, processors are habitually overclocked or only 50% of advertised speed.
But what current devices have a Chinese copy? Virtually every one, even the Galaxy Note 3, which hasn't even hit the market yet, and here we'll show you a few of the more "important" copies.
Galaxy S3 vs Tinjin i9300
Even with it's popular successor just released, the Galaxy S3 still remains one of the more copied devices out there. One of the more prominently known copies is the Tinji i9300 Star band.

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Feiteng H9504

Chinese replicas of the Samsung Galaxy S4 can also be found in online. The specifications are virtually identical between the two devices, but save for some obvious and important differences with the Samsung device.

HTC One vs HDC One

Taiwan's HTC has also seen its best device 'plagiarised'. The imitation terminal in question is called HDC One and is no doubt probably one of the more blatant rip-offs, barely changing the name of the device in question.

iPhone 5 vs. Hero H2000+

The Hero H2000+ fully copies the design of iPhone 5 and sells for about 150 euros. Technical specifications do not really resemble the original, but it comes across looking like an exact replica of the popular Apple device.
